FAIRY TALE SUMMER WEDDING AT MOUNTAIN CHRISTIAN | #HAPPILYEVERDIAZ | MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
When I heard that Savannah + Nik had gotten engaged, I was so thrilled for them and was honored when they reached out for me to be their photographer. I had wanted to get to know Nik a bit better since I had already known Savannah for a while and loved the sweet person she is. Nik is a hilarious guy - a kindred spirit to my “The Office”-loving sarcasm. He told me about how he and Savannah had been friends since he moved to Maryland eight years ago. Then he told me the real story - that he had loved Savannah all that time. He likes to say “It’s all about the long game” and I can’t blame a guy for falling so hard yet waiting so patiently. As a girl, Savannah loved the movie "The Little Mermaid", watching it in marathons with her Dad. She, as most little girls do, dreamed of her own Prince Eric one day. God has a funny way of aligning things together so wouldn't you know what Nik's middle name is? Eric. Savannah hadn't noticed Nik in a romantic light until a year or so before they started dating, but once they were together, they knew it was meant to be. Nik proposed to Savannah at her home church and from there they were counting down the days to becoming husband and wife.
We had an absolute blast at their Downtown Frederick Engagement session and even then I knew that they were naturals in front of the camera. Savannah + Nik honestly, make my job crazy simple!
Once the wedding day was here, I could see all the emotion building up in Nik. So nervous, so happily anxious, he couldn’t wait to see his bride. Savannah was calm and collected but so excited to see her groom. Minutes before the ceremony, I led Savannah in her stunning vintage lace ball gown to Nik, dressed in his handsome three-piece suit. As they faced away from each other and Nik began to pray, it was as if time stood still. He gently prayed over their love, their families, their wonderful marriage ahead while Savannah sweetly smiled, tightly holding his hand. Moments later, as the music softly played and the doors opened, he finally saw her. All of the emotions he had been holding in came pouring out, as if he was holding his breath all morning and could finally exhale. A few tears streaming down his face, Nik beamed while Savannah gracefully walked down the aisle to him. I’ve never seen a groom so overcome with joy and thankfulness in that single moment. Those authentic moments are so beautifully rare.
"All I know is, darling, I was made for loving you."
Nik + Savannah’s beautiful wedding had amazing details, perfectly reflecting their fairy tale romance. Each centerpiece featured a book cover with different famous couples, from “Cinderella + Prince Charming” to “Ross + Rachel”, all paired with a single glass covered rose, a classic homage to “Beauty and the Beast”. They even had a custom open-book backdrop with a hand drawn fairytale castle and their own little “once upon a time” story that they used for photos with every guest there to celebrate with them. No one could deny how this day had been a dream come true.
This isn’t just a beautiful wedding post. This isn’t just another couple in love. There’s a deeper soul in this story. It’s magical when you see a couple come together with full hearts ready to explore life together. Nik + Savannah may be young, but their love is deeply rooted within each other. I am beyond grateful to have been a small part in their beautiful journey.
Congrats Nik + Savannah!
